These Butterfly-birds came into being in 2015 as an interactive invitation to one of my solo shows. Recipients were requested to bring them to the gallery for placement as an installation. After the show many wished theirs returned to them. They were so well received that the following year I offered others for sale.
Each year I add something new to this series. I began mounting them on frames upcycled with wood and other materials. The years following dragonflies then Luna moths joined the mix.
This new series highlights butterflies and birds found in Algonquin Park and Muskoka, mounted for the first time on driftwood I collected from the shores of Lake Huron.
